GOP Digest — June 10, 2026 | Lindsey Graham Crushes Primary Challenge as Trump-Snubbed Nancy Mace Crashes in South Carolina Governor Race
Sen. Lindsey Graham easily won renomination in South Carolina while Rep. Nancy Mace's bid for governor collapsed without Trump's backing, sending Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette into a runoff. In Maine, Democrats handed Sen. Susan Collins a self-described socialist opponent, while the NRCC posted the best fundraising year in its history.
Lindsey Graham wins South Carolina primary:
Sen. Lindsey Graham defeated a wealthy primary challenger to win renomination for a fifth term, backed by President Trump's endorsement. He will face Democratic pediatrician Annie Andrews in November in a state Trump carried comfortably in 2024.
Trump-snubbed Nancy Mace collapses:
Rep. Nancy Mace finished with roughly 12 percent and conceded before 9 p.m. after failing to win Trump's endorsement. Trump-backed Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette (29%) and Attorney General Alan Wilson (26%) advance to a June 23 runoff. Mace attributed her loss to breaking with her party over the Epstein files.
Maine Democrats nominate a far-left foe for Susan Collins:
GOP Sen. Susan Collins ran unopposed, while Democrats picked progressive Graham Platner, who campaigned on a wealth tax, government-funded healthcare, and free education. Republicans see the matchup as a gift in a swing-state race.
Incumbents hold in North Dakota and Nevada:
Freshman Rep. Julie Fedorchak beat back a primary challenge for North Dakota's at-large seat and is heavily favored in November, while Trump-backed Marty O'Donnell won the GOP primary in Nevada's 3rd District with 42.4 percent.
NRCC posts record haul:
The NRCC reported its best year-to-date fundraising in committee history at $57.6 million, continuing to outraise the DCCC. The NRSC, which began 2025 carrying $26 million in debt, has cleared its obligations, sent the maximum $62,000 to every GOP incumbent, and added more than 26,000 new donors with 99% of gifts under $200.
June 16 in Georgia and Alabama:
The Georgia Senate runoff pits Rep. Mike Collins against former coach Derek Dooley, while Alabama's runoff between Hudson and Moore is also set for June 16. South Carolina's gubernatorial runoff follows on June 23.
