Deb Haaland

Debra Haaland (Democratic Party) is running for election for Governor of New Mexico. She is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 2, 2026.

Haaland was the U.S. Secretary of the Interior. She assumed office on March 16, 2021. She left office on January 20, 2025.

Haaland was the first Native American to serve as a cabinet secretary and was one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress.1 Haaland is an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Laguna.2
