Google Says It Fixed Political Email. Did It?

Gmail Is Changing Political Email. We'll Track What Actually Happens.

Starting September 8, Google is launching its new Verified Sender Program for eligible political committees, designed to improve delivery of compliant political email to Gmail users.

It's a major change. But the real question is simple:

Will it actually fix political inboxing?

Inbox.gop will track the results week over week.

The Existing Gap Is Significant

Inbox.gop's current data shows Democratic email with roughly a 2-to-1 inboxing advantage.

Once Google's program launches, we'll track whether that gap closes, grows or stays exactly where it is.

Google has historically provided little transparency into where political emails actually land. Inbox.gop gives campaigns an independent view of what's really reaching the inbox.

Reputation Is Changing. Spam Rate Matters More Than Ever.

Reporting remains a major concern.

Under the new program, senders must keep their Gmail spam complaint rate below 0.3% on a 14-day average.

Exceed that threshold and Google can suspend a sender for seven days or permanently remove them from the program.

That makes monitoring actual inbox placement and recipient behavior critical.

How to Qualify

Eligible candidates, political parties, PACs and other qualifying political committees should start preparing now.

To participate:

  1. Verify your sending domain through Campaign Verify.
  2. Make sure your sending domain or subdomain hosts or redirects to your committee's public website.
  3. Set up and verify the domain in Google Postmaster Tools.
  4. Meet Google's sender requirements, including SPF and DKIM.
  5. Avoid shared sending infrastructure.
  6. Keep your spam complaint rate below 0.3%.

The program launches September 8, 2026.

We'll Show You What Happens Next

Google changed the rules. Now we'll see whether they change the results.

Inbox.gop will track political Gmail placement every week—including whether the existing partisan inboxing gap actually improves.

Google can tell you whether you're compliant.
